Jannis Varelas first museum solo exhibition in the USA "Sleep My Little Sheep Sleep" is opening on May 11th in the Contemporary Arts Center of Cincinatti in Ohio. Greek artist, Jannis Varelas, spent three weeks in residence at the CAC creating new works for this, his first solo museum show in the U.S. Thanks to support from the Mayerson Family Foundations, Varelas also worked with a group of high school students from the School for Creative and Performing Arts. The exhibition will employ the story-telling methods of theatre -and particularly those of the Theatre of the Absurd- in an attempt to experiment both with narrative form and the disintegration of narration. Combing different stories and artistic genres that share a common point of departure, the exhibition will act as a temporal distortion subverting basic narrative elements. Jannis Varelas solo show at CAC Cincinatti is curated by Xenia Kalpaktsoglou, co-director and curator of the Athens Biennale.
